Q: Where are the spark plugs of a 2000 Hyundai elantra located?
The engine light of my hyundai Elantra 2000 came on. It says there is a miss fire in cylinder 3. I just replaced the crankshaft position sensor and it was running fine for about a week. Someone said I should replace my spark plugs. I am not exactly sure where they are located on the Elantra.

A: I have an 05 Elantra. On my car their is a plastic cover over the top of the engine , held on by 4 bolts . Remove these bolts and the cover lifts right off . Directly underneath right on top the engine you will see 4 plug wires coming in . Lift by the boots of these wires to remove the plug wire from the plug. The plugs will be recessed down in their about 5 inches , you will need a sparg plug socket and an extension to reach down in there. Install the new plugs and once they are snug give them another half turn. I suggest pulling one plug at a time and replacing with the new so as not to cross the plug wires . It really is an easy job that anyone can do. The new platinum plugs will run about $3 each X 4 + $12 . You will save around $40 or more on labor . Just did mine this week , It took me all of about 20 minutes.

Q: How do I clear a check engine light on 2000 Hyundai elantra?
My girlfriend has a 2000 hyundai elantra with a check engine light on and whats me to check under the hood. I told her on the phone, she might have to take the car to the dealer and have them see whats wrong. She had a oil change not to long ago at a Merchants tire shop.

A: You should change the oxygen sensor, that is most likely your problem. The guy above is stupid it takes $15 per sensor, with comections. One wrench and 10 minutes and it will be fixed. Don't waist your money at a shop for this one.

Q: Where can I find the drain plug in my Hyundai Elantra?
I want to change the radiator coolant in my 2002 Hyundai Elantra. Where do I locate the proper drain plug?

A: take it to your local oil change shop. they have a machine that will get 98% of the old fluid out by cycling all the way through the coolant system including the heater core. This service will run you between $49 an $89 depending on which coolant you use. If you really want to do it yoursel it is on the bottom of the radiator usually located in 1 of the corners. It should resemble a wing nut.

Q: Installing a cd player in a 2000 hyundai elantra?
I need to replace the cd player in my mom's 2000 Hyundai Elantra. Does anyone know how I'd go about removing the dash to get to the unit itself? I've installed cd players in my Tiburon, but the dash is completely different than the Elantra and I'd just like to know for sure. Thanks!

A: Explore it and see what happens? thats how i figured it out n a couple of the cars ive done this too

Q: What's the difference between a Hyundai Elantra GLS and a Hyundai Elantra SE?
I am looking into a Hyundai Elantra and I would like to know the difference between the two. Can someone help me?

A: The main difference between the 2 is safety equipment. The SE has Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control. Others include leather, 16" Alloy wheels, a telescoping steering wheel with audio controls and a trip computer. Price difference would be around $2000. The SE trim model was the one chosen as Top pick by Consumer Reports.

Q: What is the best GPS for a 2000 Hyundai Elantra?

A: tom tom

Q: Hyundai Elantra?
Does anyone one own a Hyundai Elantra, what's your opinion on fuel consumption, performance, and maintenance. Any tips or tricks to keep it running smooth?

A: I have been looking at them, too. Quickie conversations with owners at parking lots, etc. are 99% very positive about them. Warranty is tops, gas mileage from high 30' - low 40's !!! Important - shop the dealers! Many negatives from buyers about a dealer here in Mass. south shore. Ask around, good luck Shalom

Q: Does Hyundai cover timing belt replacement under its warranty as I'm the original owner of a 2003 Elantra?
I have a 2003 Hyundai Elantra GT with about 63000 miles driven. I was wondering if the timing belt needs to be changed even though I don't drive it hard. If so, does Hyundai cover timing belt replacement under the warranty as I'm the original owner of the car. Also, I bought this car after graduation in TX but currently live in CA. Thanks.

A: Yes you need to replace it. It connects your camshafts to your crank shaft. If your belt breaks or stretches your valves can hit the pistons and destroy your engine if its an interference engine. If its not an interference engine your car just wont run. Those repairs wont be covered by warranty because you didn't follow the maintenance schedule so the damage is your fault. Warranty covers manufacturing and assembly defects not maintenance.

Q: Is a 2001 Hyundai Elantra a good car to buy?
I found a 2001 Hyundai Elantra hatchback for sale for $6,000. It looks like it's in good condition. However, what are some stats for it? Is it reliable? Does it get good gas mileage?

A: Well.... My Elantra outlasted my friend's Civic and his brother's Camry had transmission problems the first day he got it so yes it's possible to outlast Honda's and Toyota's regardless how much people hype them up. Funny how my 7 yr old Elantra hasn't "fell apart" yet after 135,000 miles. Little thing called routine maintenance goes along way. $6000 sounds a bit much but how many miles does it have? Sounds like it has low miles. Small cars are in demand now because of high gas prices and Hyundai resell values are getting better so this price isn't far off. My 01 Elantra gets about 33-36 mpg highway depending on how fast I'm going. The Elantra is Edmund's best used car pick for 5 yrs so I would say it would be a decent used car. http://www.edmunds.com/reviews/bestbet/articles/index.html

Q: What are your thoughts on a 2007 Hyundai Elantra Limited?
I am looking to buy a new car. Comparing the Elantra to the Civic, Sentra, Corolla and others, I am finding that the Elantra gives you the most for your money and has great warranty. What do you guys think about Hyundai?

A: First off, I am the owner of an 07 Elantra GLS, one step "down" from the Limited, but I have most of the same options because the dealer installs them based on customer preference. We traded in our 02 Elantra GLS for it. Our car is a gem. It's nicer on the outside, and the inside is much, much better than our old one. Reliability? Our '02 never gave us a problem except once, and it was completely covered under the warranty. We traded it in with 92,0000 miles on it. Hyundai "haters" are ignorant, and they must enjoy throwing their money away. Hyundai builds good cars for much cheaper than Honda and Toyota but stay out of the limelight. The Elantra is a bigger car than the Civic AND the Corolla. I have two growing children and they have plenty of room in the back. We bought our car brand new, put 2K down and financed 11,300, which means that my brand new car I bought for about $600 more than my 02. Try getting a Civic with all those options for anywhere near that price. You'd do well to buy a Hyundai.

Q: Where would the cruise control be located on a 2001 Hyundai Elantra GLS?
Just recently purchased a 2001 Hyundai Elantra and was curious if anyone could answer the question of how can I know if it has cruise control. It didn't come with a manual.

A: cruise control on that model should be on the right side of the steering, just forward of the windshield wiper functiom. The lever ought to a little lower than it and just behind the steering wheel.

Q: What are your thoughts on a 2005 Hyundai Elantra?
I am a college student, and my car recently got totaled in a hit-n-run accident. I am in desperate need to another car. I have about $6,000 to spend and would like a newer car (my previous car was a 2000). I was looking at a used 2005 Hyundai Elantra. I don't know much about Hyundai's, but I hear they are now made better. Does anybody have any advice for me? Or any other car suggestions?

A: It sounds just right for someone in your situation... Hyundais are really reliable, unlike the Hyundais of yesteryear... they have bad resale value for now... but your 2005 Hyundai will not disappoint. And don't listen to that Donnie Iris idiot, an old muscle car will give you nothing but headaches, people only buy them and spent oodles on parts and repairs just to feel young again!

Q: Can I paint or replace the side molding on my 2006 Hyundai Elantra Hatchback?
I bought a 2006 Hyundai Elantra Hatchback. I love the car, however I hate the black rubber side molding that's meant to protect the doors. Is it possible to paint the molding the color of the car or replace the rubber molding with fiberglass molding that could be painted to match the car? I really just hate those black lines going down the side of my white car.

A: If they are "textured" moldings they can be painted BUT they will peel over time due to the texture. If they are smooth moldings they can be painted by a collision repair facility but it can cost as much as $40.00 - $50.00 per molding. They must be removed from the vehicle, cleaned, prepped, based and cleared, then the tape that holds them on must be cleaned off and new double sided tape applied. A lot depends on the area you live and the labor rates. If you want it done right so they will match the color or your vehicle and not peel you will need to take it to a repair facility and get it done. If you use spray paint they will not match and they WILL peel and look worse than straight black as they are now. Hope this helps.

Q: What would be a good system for my 2001 Hyundai Elantra GLS?
I want to replace my system in my 2001 Hyundai Elantra GLS and I don't want to spend to much money but i want all new speakers and a new head unit. Can anyone give me some help please?

A: Find out what size your factory speakers are. Then shop for a good head unit. Buy the unit first, because you could end up with ohmage problems by buying the speakers first. A decent 45w x4 head unit will do wonders to improve the sound in your car. 4 new speakers will make it scream and a solid amp/sub combo will set it off. You don't need much more than a 250 watt amp to really make the bass puond. JL Audio has a 250/1 mono amp and a 10 inch sub will really sound clean in a trunk. If you're not ready for the sub, make sure the speakers inside the car have an RMS rating of more than the output of the deck. After that, its all what looks good and sounds good to you. Have fun!!
