Q: Just curious, does anyone know the msrp for 2009 Hyundai Genesis 4.6L?
and what do you think about this car?
A: Hi DC,
I posted this last week. Here it is again. Training on the Genesis for the east coast starts the first week of July. The 3.8 will be delivered first with the 4.6 expected at the end of the summer.
GENESIS 3.8 & 4.6 Pricing and options
“When we first showed the production Genesis earlier this year, we committed to deliver the interior package of flagship European luxury sedans, world-class driving dynamics, and pricing comparable to entry-level premium brand vehicles,” said John Krafcik, Vice President, Product Development and Strategic Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “Today, we’re delivering on a key part of that commitment, with a very well-equipped Genesis sedan priced below the most basic Infiniti G35 or BMW 3-Series.”
While Genesis will compete for customers with cars like Lexus ES, Chrysler 300 and Cadillac CTS, Genesis’ performance capabilities and luxury features are comparable to sedans costing tens of thousands of dollars more. With a price range from $33,000 for a well-equipped 3.8-liter V6 to $42,000 for a fully-equipped 4.6-liter V8, Genesis makes a premium driving experience accessible to a wide range of customers. Genesis goes on sale at Hyundai dealerships in July, delivering the kind of value equation American car buyers have come to expect from Hyundai.
Genesis is built on Hyundai’s all-new, performance-driven rear-wheel-drive architecture, with an advanced five-link suspension at all four corners. It offers two powertrains, the 290-horsepower Lambda 3.8-liter V6 engine mated to an Aisin 6-speed automatic transmission, and Hyundai’s all-new Tau 4.6-liter V8 engine mated to a ZF 6-speed automatic transmission. Both deliver outstanding fuel economy. The Tau produces 375 horsepower using premium fuel and 368 horsepower using regular unleaded, leading all competitors in specific output (horsepower per liter), while also outperforming all V8 performance sedans with a projected fuel economy estimate of 17 city/25 highway. Genesis 3.8 achieves EPA fuel economy estimates of 18 city/27 highway, which outperforms the V6 engines in many smaller, mid-size cars (e.g., Nissan Altima, Ford Fusion) on the highway. With technology rivaling more expensive luxury sedans, Genesis showcases features such as XM NavTraffic, Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFLS), Lexicon® audio systems and electronic active head restraints.

Q: should i get a 2008 mustang GT or wait for the 2009 hyundai genesis coupe? mustang(300hp), genesis(375hp)?
mustang doesnt have a lot of standard features, the genesis has way more standard features and 75 more hp. but jap cars arent as solid as american cars. OOOOR , should i just keep my 2007 altima 2.5SL with navi, rearview backup camera, heated seats, bose sysytem, tiptronic and loaded(175hp)? give me your opinions people
A: I love Mustangs but want the new Genesis Coupe myself, that's funny.
Hands down though, the V6 RWD Genesis Coupe is going to be the best bang for the buck, it has everything including a terrific warranty (10 year / 100k mile). Everyone will want one, so expect the resell value to be very good for the first several model years.
The Genesis Coupe reportedly will be blowing the pants off most its competition.
And here's the best part... it is designed to run on REGULAR gas, and also designed when using super, will get you about 10 percent more horse power!
[EDIT] - - - - - - - -
(beavanjb)... you were right about the V8 only being available for the sedan... more on that... Genesis Sedan: V6 is due end of July, V8 due end of June - and they look amazing, not to mention, the V8 model will be equipped with a Lexicon 17 dynamic range speaker system and 600 watt stereo (think Rolls Royce where this goes). ...The Coupe however, will be available in either a 4cyl 212 HP or V6 306 HP engine...
(CaptainD)... you said... "The Genesis is only a concept car although it will likely be in production in a couple years.", (beavanjb) made that mistake also... "due out for at least a year" ...to the both of you... this is inaccurate, the coupe will actually make its debut before the year's end.
The Genesis Coupe concept has been around for several years and is based on the concept HDC8 which was revealed in 2004.
(James K)... Hyundai is not "crap", they are like the number two car manufacturer in the rest of the world right now. They also build engines for Mercedes and are the largest ship manufacturer in the world. The new Genesis models are a testament of what direction this company is going in. Expect some hydrogen models in 2010.
(Everyone)... Little NEWS FLASH for all you guys... we'll be getting the 2010 Genesis Coupe in November of this year. I would tell you how I know all this, but then I would have to kill you.
BTW - engine sounds awesome! T
Q: Hyundai Genesis Speed?
How fast can all of the s of the 2009 Hyundai Genesis go.
A: The car is offered with 2 powertrains.
One being a 3.8-liter V6 engine which gives the driver a 290 Horsepower engine.
and also a
4.6-liter v8 engine which produces an estimated 370 horsepower. For the V8 model, the sprint to 60 mph takes less than 6 seconds.
How fast can it go?
Not sure. There isn't too many tolls on it. I know they are pretty fast though.
I am guessing the v6 can go 0-60 around 7.3 seconds
and the v8 and go to 0-60 around 5.8 seconds.
Watching this may help

Q: I was at the Hyundai dealer and saw the new Genesis. He offered me a deal?
He offered to take my 2006 Azera Limited with 38K miles and 540 per month payment (30 months left on payments) and put me into a 2009 Genesis V-6 and keep me at the same payments for 5 yrs.
Is this a good idea?
A: There's nothing good about this deal my friend, car dealers love selling to people based on payments. Here's the facts based on what you've provided.
You are getting $16200 as trade in on your Azera (30x540)
You are paying $32400 for the new Genesis, this I believe is the retail price of the base model.
So, you are getting about the right value on the trade in, but paying retail for the new car. I also own the Azera limited with Ultimate package and would not be interested in the base Genesis as it offers nothing special over what I already own. Why start from square 1 yet again with a new car that's no better then the car you already drive? I mean if you can't afford the fully loaded V8 model I wouldn't bother making this deal and there's no rush with the price you are paying anyway.
Q: Hyundai Genesis or Nissan Maxima?
I am looking to buy a larger sedan later this fall. What do you think I should get, both are 2009 models:
1. Nissan Maxima with the premium and technology package, price $ 44800 Canadian plus taxes or,
2. Hyudai Genesis with the premium and technology packages, price $ 44,950 Canadian plus taxes.
They are both relatively the same price. I test drove both of them. I find the Genesis much smoother and quieter and I find the Maxima sportier. The genesis has a 5 year bumper to bumper warranty and the Maxima only a 3 year one. I am stuck, but I only have money for one of these...what one ?
A: The Genesis beat a Chrysler C300, BMW 550 and Mercedes E550 in a Motor Trend test this summer, so its definitely got the sport performance. Is this the V8 Genesis you are buying, if so its a no-brainer. Sounds like you prefer the Genesis, so go for it.
Q: what's the best car for "touring?"?
I dont mean like racing, I mean like touring motorcycles - a car thats good for just pleasure driving around the country for the sake of driving.
I would think it would need to have these qualities:
- good acceleration and handling - top speed won't mean much to me in the real world with speed limits...
- comfortable and nice interior - this is what sports cars normally lack, hence why I said touring instead of straight out sports car, for long drives to be comfortable.
- decent MPG - decent for me is at least 20 city and 26 high way.
any ideas? my price range is limited to 25k - 40k. anything less thank 25k is usually crap, and I can't afford anything over 40k. I'm 19 and in college, so please keep style in mind as well - I can't imagine myself in a chrysler 300.
so far I'm eyeing:
Low end - 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart (all new)
mid-range - 2009 Nissan Maxima (all new)
high end - 2009 Hyundai Genesis
A: Porsche's are more comfortable than the Lancer
The Genesis is good.
The Maxima is also fast and comfortable, but it has a bad turning radius and is harder to park than most cars. The new 09 model does not look as good as the 08 model in my opinion.
Honda Accord EX-L V6
Acura TL/TL Type S
Hyundai Azera
Kia Optima
Toyota Avalon
Lexus GS-same as Toyota Avalon
The most comfortable and fast small cars are Audi A4, BMW 3 seris, Acura TSX, and Lexus IS250/350, and Infiniti G35/G37.
Q: What car should i get?
I have a 98 toyota camry i've been driving for 7 years. i am now finally in the market to purchase a car and i want to get a coupe or something sporty for a change.
my options right now are:
2009 honda accord coupe
2009 nissan altima coupe
2010 hyundai genesis coupe (not released yet)
or a used car around that price range of $25k.
what do you think?
A: hands out, honda accord coupe.
The new honda accord coupe is stylish, safe, good on gas and luxurious. It's sporty, decently fast, and good on insurance compared to other sports cars.
the Nissan is a bit awkward looking in the back, and the steering/handling is a bit stiff, while the hyundai in my mind, still has to prove it's great-ness before i make a purchase from them.
good luck!
