Q: I have a 2003 hyundai santa fe. The steering wheel is extremely worn. Is it possible for me to replace myself?
I am worried about accidentally deploying the air bag and cannot find any bolts to undo to remove the steering wheel.
A: Well , i won't tell you you SHOULD do it, but i'll tell you how I'D do it, LOL! I would disconnect the battery. Then i'd feel around the back of the wheel housing for 2 holes that would contain the fasteners to release the airbag / horn assembly in the middle of the wheel - i know these may be "Torx Head" screws , so i'd have my assortment of bits and a driver handle ready to go. Once i release the middle assembly , i notice the wires for the horn and airbag (which are the quick-connector type) and i unhook those. I carefully (repeat...CAREFULLY) remove the center unit, and place it in a safe place, rear seat floorboard has worked a few times for me. Then i see the nut that actually holds the wheel on, and i get the correct socket and socket wrench to remove the nut - i will need a socket extender for this also , since i can't just get a simple wrench with socket in there to get the nut out. With the nut off, i knew in advance that i needed a tool called a "Steering Wheel Puller", and i have it handy - as a rental at my local parts store, where i give them a deposit, which i get back when i return the tool. The tool is pretty simple to use, and it's a simple clamp that pulls the wheel off by tightening a force-bolt that fits into the steering pin , BUT...if i didn't know, the parts store will tell me how to use it. Then, it's old wheel off , new wheel on. I'll make sure the wheels were straight before i started the project , and line up the marks on the pin and the new wheel as i put it on. Hope my un-official advice helps...

Q: Can my 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe frame be 100% safe & good to go, after it was rear-ended in a car accident?
I WAS REAR-ENDED, HE WAS GOING ABOUT 20-25 I WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP. THE OTHER CAR WAS A CHEVEY WORKING TRUCK, PLUMBING COMPANY TRUCK. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR 5 WEEKS NOW. WHEN I FIRST CALLED TO CHECK ON IT, THEY SAID THEY WERE HAVING TROUBLE STRAIGHTEN OUT THE FRAME, HE WAS THINKING HE WAS GOING TO HAVE TO APPLY SOME HEAT TO BEND IT. HE SAID IF THAT DIDN'T WORK HE WOULD HAVE TO CUT IT AWAY & GET A NEW PART & MELT THEM TOGETHER.
WHAT WOULD BE THE SIGNS THAT THE FRAME IS NOT STRAIGHT & NOT 100% FIXED.
I AM AFRAID I AM GOING TO GET BACK A FIXED, BROKEN CAR & AFTER THIS THE VAVLUE OF MY CAR GOES DOWN BECAUSE SOMEONE HIT ME AND CAUSED FRAME DAMAGE.
A: To verify that the car is "straight" again, inspect the door, hood and trunk seams looking for an even distance along the length of the gap. For the doors, it might be useful to check the gap one side against the other. Additionally, and most critically, the car should track straight ahead for a bit with your hands off the steering wheel. The car shouldn't make any unusual sounds. If you have the resources, you could hang a plumb bob on a string from each axle center and make a corresponding mark on the ground with chalk etc. Then measure the distance diagonally between the left front and right rear in relation to the distance between the right front and left rear tires. The distances should be exactly the same. That will tell you if the frame is reasonably straight. Given the choice between getting the car fixed or the cash equivalent of its fair market value, I would take the cash without a doubt. But it is possible to repair the car after an impact such as you experienced to a safe and acceptable level of service.
Q: How would you rate the 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe?
Attractive?
Versatile?
Roomy?
Traction?
Gas Mileage?
etc?
A: I would rate it a 7.
I had one as a loaner a few years back and really enjoyed it.
Gas mileage is terrible (18 mpg) but other than that, it is nice.
With any used cars, make sure you get it independently inspected before you purchase.
Q: did the 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS come with a tracking device?
If so, which brand?
A: In North America no. I would imagine any tracking device would have been a dealer installed option or by an after-market shop.
Q: How can I buy a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe for around $11,000 in south western ontario? Do i have to go to Toronto?
A: Try the Guelph Auto Mall: http://www.guelphautomall.com/
Q: What is the capacity of the gas tank on a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe.?
A: Mid-2002
In a rare mid-year model change, Hyundai increased the size of the fuel tank from 17 to 19 U.S. gallons and reorganized the location of the badges on the tailgate. The interior layout of the console and the position of the clock were also changed.

Q: 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe check engine light?
Any simple suggestions to look for before I put myself at the mercy of the dealer? Car has had spark plug replacements as well as timing belt replacement in last 10,000 miles. Owner's manual no help.
A: You could try disconnecting the battery for 10min or so then reconnect it. This will reset the ECU and sometimes fixes this sort of fault. Just make sure the ignition is off before disconnecting the battery. If the fault returns you may need to visit the dealer, it shouldn't cost to much to have them check the fault codes.
Being an auto electrician I don't see why this is such a "dumb idea " 8 out of 10 vehicles we see just require a reset of the ECU, error disappears, customer happy, and as far as taking a while for the emision monitors to reset, this was the whole point of the exercise. If the fault returns, then seek professional help while the light is on . The ECU will have recorded the fault code and therefore the component at fault will be easily identified. Good luck
Q: Is MotoMaster power steering fluid ok to use in my 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe?
A: As long as the fluid is PSF-3. new systems use PSF-4 but you should only use the original fluid and what most places do in the Santa Fe is just use Hyundai transmission fluid.
Q: Can I remove brake fluid from my Hyundai Santa Fe 2003, with a "turkey baster"?
I mystery shop and my assignment is to lower my brake fluid a bit to see if they fill it. Some vehicles, this isn't possible, is mine one of them?
A: Yeah, lets lower the brake fluid so we get air in the lines, then on the way to the service station run a red light due to the lack of braking and get ourselves killed. You'd be better off draining your windshield washer fluid. If you use a turkey baster you better never use it for food again, brake fluid is caustic. The other posters are right, brake fluid levels remain constant baring a leak.
Q: How reliable is a tiptronic Hyundai Santa fe 2003, I spent more than $12,000 in it.?
It`s the first time I have an automatic car and I`m afraid to spend more in towing away, repairs or even in engine I spent in a motor brought from Korea more than $4,000.00
A: hello. It probably is a reliable car, cars don't break down completely as they used to. Most cars now are automatic (in America anyway). good luck, most cars now have a very large warranty time. good luck.
Q: 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe Brake Issue - Need Help by Tomorrow!!?
Santa Fe - 30k miles. All scheduled maintenance done, very babied by 50 yr old lady. Have extended warranty. Taking to dealership tomorrow for warped front rotor. Has anyone experienced this, or know of brake problems with this year and model?? Thank you!!
Still plenty of wear on pads. Don't want to turn the rotors - bought extended warranty and I want it covered under the warranty.
BTW: I am a middle aged lady and don't want to get ripped off.
A: If it's just warped rotors it's no big deal. If the front pads are good and you just need to resurface the rotors, I wouldn't pay more than 100 dollars for the labor to do that, no parts involved. There is no way you need new rotors with only 30k.

Q: Anyone know how to burn a CD-R (.wav) that will play in the 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe's 6 disc Monsoon stereo?
A: It's not .wav files you need to burn. You need to burn the file in the .CDA format or standard music format (ie, store bought format).
Q: I'm looking for a cd deck that will fit my 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe.?
I looked at Bestbuy but none of them would fit. does ne one know where another place is that installs them and/or what cd deck might fit??
A: Any good dealer/ installer will also sell car kits which makes it possible to fit any cd player into any car. They normally cost $20 to $30.
