Q: Is an ac bracket Vital for a 2001 Hyundai sonata?
I have a 2001 Hyundai sonata and the ac bracket is missing, is it still drivable or do i need to get it fixed first?

A: if you don't have it on their it may cause the a/c pump to vibrate loose and damage it ,its a needed part,if you remove the belt from it you can more than likely drive it it has a separate belt for the a/c unit, good luck.

Q: What is the drive cycle for a 2001 Hyundai Sonata?
My Sonata is being "rejected" from Nevada emission testing. The test is not completing because the drive cycle is not completed. I have driven over 600 miles is the city so I need to know if there is a specific way to get the cycle completed. My registration expires soon!! help..

A: The following is a summary of generic OBD II drive cycle instructions for a Hyundai: • The Intake Air Temperature (IAT) should be between 14 and 122 degrees F. • Barometric pressure should be equal to or greater than 75 kPa. • The fuel tank should be between 25 and 75% full at the start of the test. •During acceleration, keep throttle 1⁄4 to 1⁄2 open. • During deceleration, slow to less than 15 mph at an engine speed of less than 1000 rpm without touching the brake or clutch pedal. • During cruise, maintain a steady engine speed between 1400 and 4000 rpm. • At idle speed, keep the throttle closed and the gear selector in the Neutral position. Remember, these are just the preliminary instructions. The actual drive cycle must conform exactly to the following instructions, or the various monitors may not run to completion. • The drive cycle begins with a cold engine startup. The IAT must be between 32 and 85 degrees F. Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) must be less than 127 degrees F. It may be necessary for the customer to leave the car with you overnight so it can cool down completely. The engine coolant and intake air temperatures must be within a tight range to complete all of the OBD II monitors during the drive cycle. If the IAT input is not between 32 and 86 degrees F at the beginning of the drive cycle, the EVAP monitor will not run. • Start the engine and allow it to idle in Park for one to two minutes. •Within the first minute and a half, accelerate at 1⁄4 to 3⁄4 throttle to 50-55 mph. Hold that speed for 2-3 minutes. Unless your shop is very close to a major expressway, it may be difficult to satisfy this step in the drive cycle. •Decelerate to 0 mph without braking, then idle for 1-2 minutes. If you’re on an expressway, pull safely off the road during this segment. • Accelerate to 55 mph, using 1⁄4 to 3⁄4 throttle, then hold a steady cruise for 10 to 20 minutes. • Return to 0 mph with the engine idling in Park, then turn the ignition off.

Q: How to remove the paneling that covers the back speakers in 2001 hyundai sonata?
I've already removed the back seats and it seems to me like the middle brake light is what it is still holding the paneling down.

A: the cover is held in with clips i think, just tug on it either up or towards the front of the car and it should come off and then you can get the panel off the back. good luck

Q: How do you change the spark plugs of a 2001 hyundai sonata (4cylinders)?
I know about moving the headers but I cant seem to get to the spark plugs. I feel as if I have to take something off as well

A: remove the plastic head cover, there will be 4 wires gently tug to get them to release from the spark plug. Now you need tools, there is a spark plug accessory that comes with most automotive tool kits. it looks like a deep well 19mm but has a rubber o-ring that keeps the plug in the socket till you get it out of the head. You will need a 4 inch extension as well. Im not sure what type of plugs Hundai requires but NGK's are the best you can put in a jap car.

Q: Does any one have a picture of a 2001 hyundai sonata vehicle speed sensor location?
2.4L 4cyl.

A: I looked in Mitchell on Demand for you and in the figures / pictures area it doesn't have a picture, but it says the vehicle speed sensor is on the bottom of the transaxle. I then looked up the wiring diagram to help you. The sensor shows a three wire connector, the wire colors are pink, brown, and black/white. It should be easy enough to find with this info. Hope it helps.

Q: What do you guys think about buying a 2001 Hyundai Sonata?
I am looking for a realiable car which won't break down every now and then..Fuel efficiency is a plus always....I can live without speed and excellent acceleration....But I know nothing about Hyundai, so decided to take your help...Thanks guys

A: I will be honest with you...I have a 2007 hyundai entourage and the car has been in the shop more times then I can count. It always has the check engine light on for different problems each time and a loud knocking noise inside the engine. They have replaced the chain, oil pump, fuel pump, fuel line, brakes, rotors and little things here and there and the thing still isn't working. Gas milage sucks, maybe 200 miles city on a full 60$ tank. If I was you I would choose another make and stay away from any NEW cars 2002 and higher. I am in the process of the lemon law and traded a 2002 dodge caravan and a 2006 hyundai sante fe for this car and I am still being asked to pay 2,000 for them to buy it back and be left with no car.....STUPID. I gave 2 working vehicles and am about to lose half my bank funds and car all because hyundai makes crappy cars. Go with Ford.

Q: How do I gain access to the power window master switch on a 2001 Hyundai Sonata?

A: You need to pull the door panel off and flip over to access swicth's tabs to pull the whole assembly out.

Q: I have a 2001 hyundai sonata. Lately it has been quitting when i put it in gear and is hard to start. It will?
sit and rev up by itself to about 3000 rpm and then drop back to about 900 rpm. Today it quit and i tried holding the accelerator to the floor and then not accellerating. It finally started when i "Pumped" the accelerator. Could it be the throttle position sensor, or does it even have one.

A: could be, the tps sensor, idle air control, or clogged injectors. Is your check engine light on? If so go to advanced auto parts and get a free computer scan. If you need help with the codes, email me back..

Q: How how I up the Horsepower on my 2001 hyundai sonata?
What could I buy or do to accomplish this? and how much will these cost...?thanks

A: the car in question has one purpose in life an affordable means of fuel efficient transportation. It was made for mpg not hp. I looked around for you and there are no after market bolt on's such as an air intake exhaust system or power programmer?? Some cars are like this if there isn't a large amount of people trying to fix up their cars. If you want performance parts looks like you will have to make them yourself. Where do you live i do custom work and can help you out. Good luck

Q: Where can I find the timing belt on a 2001 Hyundai Sonata?

A: its either in two places - on the left or right side of your engine, most likely the right side. you can tell by looking for your serpintine belt - the belt you can see. behind this belt and all the pully components is the timing belt cover - which runs from the main crack pulley all the way up to the cams. its usually in two pieces. behind this cover is the timing belt.

Q: Where can I find the Mass Air Flow Sensor in a Hyundai Sonata 2001?
The Mass Air Flow Sensor is either dirty or malfunctioning in my car. I need assistance on where to find it in the vehicle and any tips on replacing it. If you have instructions, I would greatly appreciate it.

A: Should in the air intake tube right behind the air filter. usually a square box. Should have 4 small bolts and be easily removable with common tools. ( usually torx headed bolt) When removed it will look like 2 small posts with a little ceramic piece connectting the posts. Usually has trash on it, keeping it from reading the air passing by it. It may just need to be cleaned with compressed air instead of replaced. After you clean it clear the code ( im sure thats whats maken you think its bad) and put it back in. If the code comes back, replace it. GL

Q: How do I remove the inside door panel on a 2001 Hyundai Sonata. Are any special tools required. Thanks?

A: There should not be any special tools... You will most likely just need a screwdriver and maybe a couple wrenches. If it looks like you have all the screws out and its still not coming out then try lifting up and then out because sometimes they put little hooks on the panel itself. Also, if there is a light on the door panel they like to hide a screw next to the bulb. Stephen

Q: Who here knows alot about a 2001 Hyundai Sonata? I am about to buy one...........?
I am returning my 2004 nissan sentra for a 2001 hyundai sonata with only 15,000 more miles on it than my nissan. The kelly book value is for 7,500 on a good condition sonata which is the condition of the car and has a v6 engine which is good for my long drives. Basically I am wondering if anyone on here has ever had one from 2001 and up and can tell me something's about that I won't learn from the dealership. Thank you. Oh and yeah, I can't keep the nissan like I want to because I owe too much on it. I have to get a cheap car and something fast with my friend who is agreeing to co-sign for me. So it is really my friend's decision about what car to get since his name will be on the registration but I will be the payee and the owner essentially of the car.

A: Sonatas are good cars but i'd stick with the Sentra if i were you cuz: - Nissan has a much better reputation. - Nissan makes better cars. - That Sonata is 3 years older than your Sentra and has 15k miles more which means more trouble. - Korian cars are okay if you buy them new and their life is much shorter than Japanese cars and they consume spare parts more frequent and in less time than jap

Q: Where is the brake light switch on a 2001 Hyundai Sonata?
