Q: Is there a website that gives locations of oxygen sensors on a 2004 Hyundai Sonata?
I'm changing oxygen sensor 1 in Bank 1 on my 2004 Hyundai Sonata. I know it is before the catalytic converter, but I'm not sure which side it's on. I just want to make sure that I change the correct one. And I'd also like to be able to see some kind of diagram that will show me the locations. Thanx!
A: You may get the info you need on this site

Haven't been on it in a while but I think it may have diagrams and such.
Q: 2004 Hyundai sonata I have a power steering leak, do I have to replace the whole $250 line & how much at shop?
Does the whole line need to be replaced? How big is the job ? How long will it take? How much will it cost at the shop or dealer to fix?
A: Unless you are under 60,000 miles (it would be covered under the warranty) yes, you will have to buy it OEM from an authorized dealer or distributor. It's not available aftermarket.
Assuming it is the pressure side and not the cooler tube or return line, it is all one piece. This is because of the high pressure of the liquid going through it.
It takes about a two hours, maybe a little less if the technician is familiar with the repair. Bleeding is much simpler for power steering systems than for brakes. Add charges for fluid and from a dealer you are looking at about $465.00.
You may be able to find it used from a junkyard and then have a shop install.

Q: Does anybody have an estimate on the cost of getting an wheel axle fixed on a 2004 Hyundai Sonata?
I wanna know the total cost including labor and such.
A: It depends on what is wrong with it and if it's a front or rear axle. In many high mileage cars, the CV joints in the front axles of front wheel drive cars commonly fail. It's too expensive to have the CV joint fixed. Cheaper just to replace the entire axle. Axle replace plus labor is around $200 for most cars.
Q: Have a 2004 hyundai Sonata. Are having problems filling the gas tank?
When fueling the pump will shut off at 5 to 8 gallons and then you cant complete filling the tank without having to manually hold the nozzel at a very slow rate. Have had the car back to the dealer twice now and the problem still exists The dealer claims to have replaced some kind of valves in the Tank, but what ever they are doing it isnt working. Any suggestions?
A: I answered a question like this not long ago :
I have the same type of quirkyness on my 01' Elantra. Try to fill up when the gas needle is at the half way mark rather then when it's on empty. I was told by an attendant that fumes can build up in the tank and the pressure can cause the gas nozzle to pop out. I was guilty of driving around on near empty then only filling up at the half way mark but since I started filling up it up when the needle is at the half way mark the problem went away. You may have to do this a couple of times before the problem goes away.
Hope this helps.
Q: Only my left side lights flash with Keyless entry on a 2004 Hyundai Sonata?
All of my lights used to flash, but recently, only the turn signals flash in the front and back. Otherwise, all of the lights work regularly on my car (ie all turn signals work when driving)
A: Unless you are past 60,000 miles, and the car hasn't been in an accident, it should be covered under the warranty. Sometimes it is simply a reprogram of the transmitter or alarm module. Either way it is an electrical problem and can rarely be diagnosed without seeing the vehicle. You know 'needle in a haystack'? Well, electrical is like finding a needle in a needle stack :-)
Unfortunately, you probably have the DEI alarm system. Hyundai discontinued this line because of problems such as yours.
Worse case scenario would be replacement of the module - between $200.00 and $400.00 depending on what else it controls.
Q: I have a 2004 Hyundai Sonata...The right channel on the radio is out ...But when I play a cd,it's ok?
Help I need somebody,not just anybody heeeelp,heeelp.
Thank you very much, thank you very much.
A: The warranty on Hyundai's radios is only 3 years/ 36,000 miles.
There is a repair option the dealer can provide you with, but it will be sent to California for the repair and you'll be without the radio the whole time - usually 3-4 weeks.
Below are other repair options or remove it and install an aftermarket radio.

Q: Can anyone show me where I can buy a 2004 Hyundai Sonata Repair Manual? I can only find ones up to 1998!?
Please post a link. Thanks!
A: If you are looking for a manual with alot of detail as well as complete walk through step by step repairs, go to your local auto supply and have them order a Chilton's manual for your specific car. They cover almost every make and model for the different years. I buy one for every car that I purchase.

Q: 2004 Hyundai Sonata GLS ?
Hello,
I'm looking to buy a used 2004 Hyundai Sonata GLS for 2500, the only probably is, is that it has 200000 miles on it . It has had 1 owner and has been serviced by the Hyundai dealership. It also just had a rebuilt transmission done on it just for the hell of it. My best friends grandma is the one selling it, so I can trust him that she hasn't driven crazy with it on the road. Right now I'm driving a 1996 Ford (Found off road dead) Taurus which has a blown head gasket and is about to break down. I'm 19 and in college so I don't have much to spend.
I don't know too much about Hyundai's but I do know their better than Fords.
So, what I'm asking is, do you think I should buy the Sonata with that many miles, or should I look for a different vehicle?
Thank you for your help.
A: www.kbb.com says the car is worth $5000, so $2500 seems like a bargain and the $2500 you save could buy you a replacement engine, rotors/pads and maybe struts/shocks for the car if all that needs replacing. I would definitely have a mechanic look at the car and see what else may be wrong, but it seems like a good deal to me. There are few cars on the road that will pass emissions for under $2500. So, if it checks out with a mechanic then I'd buy it, unless you have $17000 for a new one.
Q: 2004 Hyundai Sonata hub caps move - crush valve stems?
I have a 2004 Hyundai Sonata. Had 4 new tires put on this past November. February started having problems with flat tires, would go to put air in and noticed the valve stems weren't showing through the holes, took the hub cap off and heard a loud hiss, the air started coming out of the tire, the valve stem had a cut in it from the hub cap! This has happened now 3 times on both front tires!!! The tire guy who has replaced the valve stems for me said he had another guy with a 2003 Sonata that had the same problems! Anyone else have this problem or know of a fix? The other guy contacted Hyundai and they didn't do anything said there was no defect. I haven't contacted them yet, plan on it tomorrow though!
A: Do you have metal retainers on the back of you hub cap?
If you do, you can carefully bend them out to put more
pressure onto the rim. The hub caps you have are moving
on the rim as you drive, they are not seating tight enough
onto the rim. You can also use steel valve stems as a
cheap way out.
Q: Will these rims fit my 2004 Hyundai Sonata?
I have a 2004 Hyundai Sonata that currently has 18" rims and low profile tires on it. I want to buy new rims online, and need to make sure they will fit before I make the purchase. They are 18" x 7.5" Rims 4 Lug with an offset of 42mm, and the thread size is 12mm X 1.5 mm. Can anyone help?
The new rims have a 4x100 or 4x114.3
bolt pattern. There are actually 8 holes on the rims. Hope this helps.
A: What ever wheels you put on it won't make any difference, it's still a Hyundai and it'll take more than a set of wheels to make it anywhere near a decent car.
Q: The best place to get a 2004 Hyundai Sonata Idler Pulley
The idler Pulley on my Sonata just went out. When I removed it, the bearings just went everywhere. I have another belt, but, where's the best place to get the actual pulley?
A: my answer is try to go at this site http://www.autozone.com/ it's help
Q: I want to sell my 2004 Hyundai Sonata?
I still owe money on the car. I think like $10,000. I brought the car with expectations of trading the car in. However, when I went to trade the car in at the same dealership, he told me I was upside down. I owe more than what the car is worth. Any suggestions?
*I want to sell for like 8,000 and I will pay the difference so the car can be paid off**
A: Why are you trying to the trade the car in, do you no-longer need a car? If you no longer need a car, then cool, try and sell it yourself or take to carmax like someone else suggested. If you are simply trying to get a new car, then I suggest you wait until you have paid the car off. In that situation I also suggest you lease your next vehicle so you won't have to deal with taking a loss during the trade-in. You can post free car ad's on www.craigslist.com, they work just as well as those posted on paid sites, though selling on Ebay can work great too...in any case don't deal with anybody trying to send you a check in the mail (or western union) for you to ship the car...just a total scam. You didn't list the condition or features of the car, but you should be able to get $8000 fairly easy.
Q: 2004 Hyundai Sonata Clutch Problem?
My clutch on my sonata sporadically gets very hard and comes up very slowly and at the same time has a loose play at the top...it will then go back to normal. My dealership is closed. How do I check if it takes fluid, where do I look, and what kind of fluid does it take.? Thank you for your time.
PS. 22,000 miles with current service records.
A: I don't know if that make uses a hydraulic clutch or a mechanically operated clutch. but i can tell you that even if it is hydraulic your problem is not low fluid as that would result in a very soft pedal with the transmission being hard to put in gear
