Q: Hyundai Tiburon?
I have been looking at a Hyundai Tiburon GS very seriously and may be purchasing one in the next few days. If anyone who owns one of these cars could tell me anything about their experience with these cars, I would greatly appreciate it. Please include how long you have owned the car.

A: Like the 1st 2 posters I don't own a Tiburon, unlike those 1st 2 I'm not going to sit here and make up stories either. No car crumbles in an accident and there is a 5 yr bumper to bumper warranty even if the car did require a repair. The RX-8 I would not touch, its very beautiful and handles well, but the rotary is honestly the worst engine ever designed in modern times. Mazda has actually recalled and replaced several thousand of these motors, not to mention they swallow a quart of oil every 1000 miles get less then 20mpg and don't have much power for the price. The Tiburon is a pretty nice sporty car in the lightweight class (not a true sports car), I would choose the V-6 engine. You may also consider a used Celica or Accord coupe, there's really not much available in this market unless you want a 2-seat convertible...seems to be many more of them available now. Hyundai sells about 20K Tiburon's a year and they are known to be reliable so if you like it, buy it!

Q: when exactly is the scheduled maintenance miles for Hyundai Tiburon?
I just bought 2003 hyundai tiburon gt v6 2.7 auto transmission and I don't have the owner's manual. I tried official hyundai website but it seems to be not working. Thanks.

A: Same as most normal cars, 30K, 60K, 90K, with oil changes every 5K and tire rotation every 10K, air filters every 15K or as needed. Check fluids and tire pressure monthly.

Q: How does the shiftronic transmission work in a Hyundai Tiburon?
I am looking at getting a Tiburon from Hyundai with the shiftronic transmision. I was wondering how this transmission works. I understand that the car will function like an automatic but I was wondering if the car autmatically shifts for you when you are using the shiftronic. Does it shift for you at a certain RPM level? An explanation would be greatly appreciated.

A: The trans has 2 modes...one fully automatic and the other manual without the clutch. In manual mode you will see the + - signs which tell u whether u r are downshifting or up-shifting. When you are accelerating in manual mode, you will have to up-shift when the rev's get between 2500 and 5000rpm. If you r coming up to a corner and moving quickly , you can downshift twice, the revs will go up and the tires will grab, and you can whip around the corner quite nicely. When in manual mode and coming to a stop, you don't have to downshift as the transmission does it for you automatically. The benefits of having a transmission like this is for better control in adverse weather or cornering if you like to race. This car handles very well and is very fun to drive......enjoy it!!! Unless you drive for pleasure, you will always keep it in auto mode.

Q: My 2004 Hyundai Tiburon's tailgate release button is not working how do I fix it?
It is a 2004 Hyundai Tiburon GT V6 and whenever I try to use the trunk release it does not work. I have looked at the fuse and it seems visibally fine.

A: Despite what Smokeybacon/Edgar/HonestJohnny/JPSenior said, the next thing to check is the switch itself. If the fuse is fine, then its likely the switch/release button is not working. You can order a new part from your dealers parts department.

Q: Can anyone give me advice on upgrading my 2000 Hyundai Tiburon?
I have a 2000 Hyundai Tiburon, 2.0L automatic. What can I do to increase horsepower and improve performance? I want to keep it automatic (Don't flame me, just my choice). I don't want to go turbo, want to keep it NA. I have already installed a performance computer chip, and a cold air intake. I have a set of OBX headers and a performance exhaust I am going to have installed. I plan on getting Front and Rear strut bars and sway bars. Lastly I am thinking of getting my cylinder heads ported and polished. I'm not trying to race it, just want to increase performance a little bit without breaking the bank account. Anything else beyond this I should do?

A: Well, considering the time, money and effort in converting an automatic to manual, you'd be better off buying a new manual car than trying to swap them. Keeping it NA is also wise, as the automatics in Tibs aren't the strongest pieces of equipment. Intake and exhaust are the easiest engine upgrades you can do, and even that won't do much on that car. Beyond that, I'd go nuts on the suspension and interior.

Im buying a 1999 Hyundai Tiburon that is painted all chameleon. The hood is damaged and i'm buying a new hood and replacing it. I will be painting the hood chameleon color. Cheaper than getting the whole car repainted though!

Q: Where can I find a Cold Air or Short Ram Intake for an Automatic transmission 06 Hyundai Tiburon V6?
I can find Cold air intakes and short ram intakes for Manual Transmission Tiburons everywhere, but I can't find any for my Automatic one anywhere. I have looked at countless websites and even called a couple places but no one has helped me. PLEASE if you know the brand or model number or the place where I can find one, let me know. I'm getting desperate....It's a 2006 Hyundai Tiburon GT 2.7liter V6 Automatic Transmission.

A: Try searching "Cold air intake 2006 Tiburon" on Ebay. I have a short ram intake and it works great. I got it brand new with a K&N cone filter, brand new for $35 + shipping. The seller only had the one I bought, however I have seen the same EXACT one that a company called Chrome Intakes sells. Chrome Intakes was the user ID on Ebay. Good Luck

Q: This is a opinion for the Hyundai Tiburon?
I have a 2004 GT special edition. I have had excellent progress with it. I am very happy with it. Hyundai has come a long way. There becoming more classy as well as sporty. Me personally I would get a tiburon again if I had to start all over.

A: Good choice, I like the Tiburons too!

Q: Can I fix the door lock on my Hyundai Tiburon?
2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT. Someone jimmied the lock and popped it. Now I can't lock my passenger door and since it won't lock I am unable to activate the alarm. Can I take the door panel off myself and fix the lock? How? I have insurance but I've filed 2 claims in the past year and I am afraid of a rate increase.

A: Sure. You need a door panel tool or a flat blade to make sure you don't damage the door panel. You'll have to unplug the electrical wires to the speaker and power window. You will need a new lock cylinder and retaining ring. And you will need the new lock cylinder rekeyed to match your driver's side lock. Do you have insurance? It's not a big job, but it will take some time. Good luck.
