Q: Can I cut out my catalytic converter in my 2001 Hyundai Tiburon?
My car has no get up and go. I was on the interstate cruising in 5th gear. I tried to pick up a little speed but my car didn't go anywhere. I dropped down into 4th and just barely picked up some speed. I have been told that I need a new catalytic converter. This is not a cheap part. Is there any loop hole I can jump through or am I SOL?
A: SOL. Federal regs require them and most places will not even work on your car if you remove it. If you have to have vehicle inspections where you are, you def have to have it.
Q: 2001 hyundai tiburon wont start any suggestions please help!?
we replaced the fuel pump and the fuel relay switch, its not the starter and its not the battery i get power to everything and i can smell gas getting to the engine. im wondering if its an o sensor or maybe a computer problem or an injector problem. we just replaced all the plugs and wires. anyone with any ideas i am at a loss.
A: get a honda. lol, just kidding... sort of.
does it chug and try to turn over? im assuming it does. if the pump and relay switch are fine ... err, wait, relay switch? is that the same as the relay itself? ive had the relay go and it baffled mechanics before. mine is under the steering wheel right above the pedals and looks like this bad boy here http://autorepair.about.com/library/graphics/009.jpg
i dont know if youd call that a relay switch, but its always been referred to as just the main relay or fuel pump relay when ive heard it. try that.
if not, i guess it must be something in between the fuel filter and the engine. injectors, clogged line, maybe a line thats come away from where its supposed to go into. i dont know much about sensors, but if theres one that would completely stop the air from getting in there maybe its messed up.
it sounds stupid but how bout the air filter? it could be clogged up uber tight if no one has touched it. i guess if its a problem with the spark, it could be the distributor. if you changed the plugs and wires then the only thing left there is the distributor / distributor cap that coudl be f**ked up and causing it not to spark.
Q: Any tips on how to get my windshield washer operating again in my 2001 Hyundai Tiburon?
Its been a few months now since I was able to use my windshield washer. Ive checked the hoses and connections and everything seems fine. Is it common for the washer motors to just die or is there something else I can check or do to fix my situation? I would take my car to the dealer but due to my work/school schedule the only day I have available is Sunday and service is closed. Any help is appreciated.
A: if you push the washer button do you hear the motor running?, if not check the fuses first , if the fuses are all good you can go to any parts store and get a new motor and it is usually at the bottom of the washer bottle tank. If you hear the motor running when you push the button you have a plugged hose, take the hose off and used compressed air to blow through the lines and then make sure the orface where the fliid comes out onto your windshield is also clean, you can stick a pin in those holes to clean them out.
Q: What are the size of the factory speakers in a 2001 hyundai tiburon?
A: www.crutchfield.com, look it up.
Q: How do i replace my serpentine belt on my 2001 Hyundai Tiburon?
A: The tension is released either by putting a 17mm open-end wrench over the end of the tensioner arm or by placing a 3/8" drive ratchet in the 3/8" square hole in the tensioner.
To change the belt, release the tension and slip the belt off one of the pulleys, taking note of the belt routing. Then remove the two 12mm bolts and remove the tensioner and belt. Install the new belt onto the tensioner and bolt back into place. Then route the belt and release the tension again to enable you to put it on the last pulley. I find it's easiest to do the alternator or power steering pulley last.
Q: 2001 Hyundai Tiburon idles at perfect temperature, but runs cold when driving, please help?
I just replaced the thermostat, no leaks, purged all the air out and topped off (I think) and it runs like the thermostat is stuck open. But from cold start the engine warms up in normal time while idling...What is causing the temp to drop as circulation increases with RPM's?
A: I agree, I think it's stuck open. Did you buy a 1.99 thermostat made in China. If so remove it and buy a good one. Try a Stant or O.E.M. replacement from Hyundai. The temp will drop with increased rpm because the thermostat is probably not regulating water temperature. Thermostats are designed to obviously open and close in order to keep an engine at a proper operating temp. If it's stuck open it can't do that. Also check your fan. Is it electric? If it runs all the time than that could be the problem as well.
Q: How do I change the headlight bulb on a 2001 Hyundai Tiburon?
A: I have seen some newer cars where you have to remove the entire headlight assembly, but not very many. Follow these instructions: Go from under the hood. You may have to remove the battery or some other component. There should be a black or grey retainer ring holding the bulb in. Twist that ring counterclockwise, unplug the socket and pull out the bulb.Reverse the order to put in the new bulb. DO NOT touch the glass on the new bulb. This halogen bulb gets very hot when it lites up and the natural oils in your skin will create hot spots on the bulb and cause it to burn out alot quicker and you will be doing it again. If all else fails...go to Advance Auto Parts. They will replace most bulbs and at no cost to you except for the price of the bulb.

Q: MIL LIGHT on a 2001 Hyundai Tiburon SE *Please dont answer if your going to be ignorant*?
We just bought a 2001 Hyundai Tiburon and we drove to Calgary, Alberta, Canada from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada this weekend it is about 350KM distance a 4 hour drive. We stopped in Red Deer to get a bite to eat and turned the car off for a little while. When we started it the MIL light turned on and was on *steady not blinking* so I called the mechanic and asked if I could drive the rest of the way he said yes so we did then we called him before we left back to Edmonton and drove all the way back wtih no problems and it went straight to the shop to see what was wrong.
Has anyone else had this problem with their Tibby and if so what was the cause of it?
A: I don't have a tibby, but the mil is usually emissions related, so most of the time you wont notice any major performance problems, and also that is why it's ok to keep driving it.
It could be numerous things though, so it's best to just have your mechanic check it out. It looks like you went to the shop already, so are you just waiting to find out?
Q: Does the 2001 Hyundai Tiburon have a LATCH system for child car seats?
A: No. It was not made required standard equipment until 2002, so vehicles that are 2003 model year. A very few vehicles had it before then, but mostly just higher end family vehicles. You can safely use the seatbelt, though, in case you were wondering. Seatbelts are just as safe as LATCH.
Q: How do you change a clutch on a 2001 Hyundai Tiburon?
A friend and got it completely done, but when it came to start the car, the clutch pedal wouldn't go in, hence the car wouldn't start.
I'm mainly looking for some "tips" or "things to look out for" that would help me the next time i were to try something like this.
A: well its not a good do it yourself job
take to dealer to fix
Q: Will Hyundai Cover the Electronics on a 2001 Tiburon - Ignition Won't Start?
The ignition won't start in my wife's 2001 Hyundai Tiburon. After towing to my very honest and reliable mechanic, he said it's an electronics issue - and it could be costly. Before I fork out more $$$ to tow it to the Hyundai dealer, I was wondering if anyone knows if this is covered by Hyundai (given that she's only driven 65000 miles). Am I going to have to jump through a dozen hoops (I don't have every oil change, etc. documented but have kept up on everything) to get it covered? Will they rip me off anyway? We could conceivably go down to just one car - but two would be better. And if nothing else, I'd like to be able to sell it off - though it isn't in the best shape ever. Your thoughts and experiences?
A: The warranty on your car is 10 year, 100,000 mile on the powertrain (if your the original owner). Most of the rest of the car is (was) covered by the 5 year/60,000 mile warranty. If you drove the car 65,000 miles, then you are out of warranty. What hoops do you normally jump through?? If the engine is not spinning over, you may have an ignition problem, but at 65K, if you haven't changed the timing belt...it could be that. They are due to be changed at 60K.
Q: Should i put a body kit on my 2001 Hyundai tiburon?
Here's my dilema. i live in nebraska. It snows here in the winter (imagine that)! So should i put a body kit on my tiburon even though i plan on using it as a daily driver or will the snow rip the body kit off?
is there a way i can remove the body kit when winter rolls around?
Or should i just buy some nice rims, tint the windows, buy a good stereo and call it good? I really want a body kit!!!!!! but i don't know what to do!
PLease just give me your opinion
i can't afford a car for the winter.
i have already considered this option
what can i do to make sure it won't get destroyed in the snow.
i am worried that it will rip off or the snow will damage the body kit when i drive it through the snow.
A: ive seen pics of 2001 hyundai tiburons with body kits and they look very sick. i would suggest you buy one if you have the cash and want to make your whip look good. as for the snow it shouldnt be too crazy for the body kit i suggest getting it molded onto your car, bolt on kits should hold fine also but i dont know HOW bad your winter gets and i dont know HOW low the body kit will make your car. i suggest you get one though cuz they make really good kits for that car, if i were you i would get a car cover to protect it from snow. its all your decision of course!! enjoy.
Q: 2001 Hyundai tiburon won't start unless i pump the accelerator, why?
A: i own a repair shop, and its possible that the pressure regulator assembly is going bad on it,,either that or the fuel pump or fuel filter is bad,,its definitely a fuel related problem on it,if you don't find it have some one check it out for you,it may get worse on it before it goes out,id have it looked pretty soon good luck with it,i hope this help,s.
Q: I have a 2001 Hyundai Tiburon what should I do to it first Rims, engine performance what?
A: Your car will get looked at a lot more than it will get raced. Keep that in mind. I'd go with some under glow lights. LedGlow is a great brand. I got 7 color changing led under glow delivered to my door for $135. This also came with two sets of interior lights for my floor boards.
